About Us

As an EV driver visiting a remote B&B, founder Laurie MacKay found himself getting up early, driving miles, and sitting in his car just to charge - all before setting off for the day. The result? He missed breakfast with his family and the B&B missed the opportunity for more revenue and a repeat booking.

Frustrated by the lack of reliable EV chargers at places where customers are already parked for hours - like B&Bs, hotels, and offices - and doubly annoyed at missing his morning croissant and chocolate milk, Laurie set out to solve the problem.

His brother-in-law James witnessed the whole thing and quickly joined Laurie’s mission: to ensure drivers across the country can start their day with both a full belly and a full battery. HandyCharge was born soon after.

Today we cover all of the UK and we are based just outside of Glasgow.
